Hello and thanks for letting me join the forum!
I stupidly sold my Einstein TC-01 about ten years ago but the draw has been too strong so i'm pleased that I now have another one, looking forward to getting it back up and running again.
Does the 256 natively support 80 columns?
I have an 80 column card which I use for CPM on my TC01 but when I need to test whatever I am writing I have to switch to the normal output. I only have space for one monitor so have to switch inputs on it on a regular basis.
I have a SCART switcher which helps but its still a pain.
Certainly, the vdp can support it, but not sure if XDOS supports it. Also, whether it can supported by the screen if it's not an official monitor, is anyone's guess.
I've been following the Forum with interest. I'm enthusiastic about all 8-bit computers from the 1980s and in the last few years I have acquired two Einstein TC01s (6004041 and 6014925) and an Einstein 256 (15100403).
Following some repairs, both TC01s are now working as they should so I'm enjoying getting properly acquainted with the Einstein. It's a great machine. I can see why so many software houses used it as a development machine for other computers.
